Cookies and pies are done. Dinner will be in the oven soon. The house is clean and decorated. Christmas music is playing. Family will gather later for dinner. We will eat, drink, share stories and laugh together. A great evening in our home.

I Am Under The Weather

I have been cuddling in bed with my dogs under a very warm quilt. I do not want to miss out on the holiday celebrations next week so I hope this bug goes away fast. After Christmas I will be on hiatus for a few weeks. During part of this time I will be in Florida as a parent chaperon on a Orientation Trip.

TGIF - I Love Fridays - 12/14/2007

I can not believe the year is almost over. Where did the time go? What did I do with the time? Did I use the time wisely? Did I waste the time? How many of you are asking the same questions? I am going to spend some time this weekend reading my blog posting from the past year to see what I did or did not accomplish. The main reason why I started my blog is to keep a record of my life. I am thinking of printing my blog in a book format for safe keeping.

The Hanukkah decorations and Menorahs have been put away for another year. The Menorahs are on display on the hutch in the living room and the decorations fit into one box and will be returned to the shelf in the garage.

Now it is time to decorate the inside of the house for Christmas. It will take all weekend to get the boxes off the shelf in the garage. I am not sure how many boxes there are but just the indoor decorations is about 5 boxes and the decorations/ornaments for the tree is about 8. We will be getting a fresh tree this weekend. I will decorate the inside of the house, my husband and #2 son will decorate the tree and put up the trains. The trains are another 6 boxes. I have a Dickens Village and other ceramic houses in 5 more boxes. HUM, what am I forgetting and where are the boxes?

I am so glad Hubby put the lights up a few weeks ago and decorated the outside of the house. We still have more decorations but are going to keep it simple this year. We did not get the bad storms but the roof has snow on it, the gutters are frozen over and the icicles are big.

The two soldiers (only one in photo) by the front door are JB's. He got these many years ago and wrote his name on the top of the hat to make sure his brother does not stake a claim on them.

If you are asking yourself Hanukkah and Christmas decorations??? We celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas, because we are merged faith family. We share each others holidays all year and for us it works. I am finding there are many families who are sharing their holidays so life is not so stressful. The holidays by themselves can be so stressful so sharing is good.

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Once again my husband is cooking, bless him or we would starve. The ham is in the oven and the house smells good. Yes I will taste the ham but will eat mostly potatos, veggies and cookies. Because it is just the four of us this year I said we could pass on the turkey and just have ham on Christmas Day.

Santa was very nice to us and we had presents under the tree when Jacob woke us up at 7:30 am. Christmas morning is the only non school day of the year when a teenager wakes up early. During the night when Santa was here he had his milk and chocolate chip cookies, but left a note asking where was the glass of wine he always gets. Sorry we forgot to leave some for you.

I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas with your family and friends.

Special blessing to those who are not with us this year and to the Service Men and Women who are protecting our freedom.

Past Comments and More Decorations

Kristin - I am so glad the photo of your pincushion and goodies is posted on flickr.

Beth - Military families are very special and thank-you for your prayers.

Jenclair-Asked for a photo of the bracket my family wears in memory of my Mom. The bracket is rubber and on one side has my moms name and the other side as has the words Joyful Loving Wise. I used a sharpie to color the words in because it has faded. We also had a bronze marker made with these words in additional to the head stone for her grave.


Yesterday was a family holiday party and we all had a great time.

Here is a wall quilt I made 3 years ago. Would you believe this is my first paper pieced project.

This is a wall quilt I made for my husband 3 years ago. This is my second paper pieced quilt. Most of the fabrics are from my first batch of hand dyed fabric.

This is my ceramic village that started 20 years ago with just 1 building. The photo if from the beginning of year. I am not going to set this up this year.This is the den with my sons nut crackers. The photo is from last year.I just love this Santa. Evey year I find a new place for him. This photo is from last year.
