TGIF - I Love Fridays

Today my son had half a day of school because it is the end of the quarter so we went out to lunch. As I look at him I can see the little boy is gone and he is now a young man. This time next year he will be working on the paperwork for an appointment to the Naval Academy or going to college under the NROTC program. He has been in NJROTC the past three years and loves it. He wants to make the Navy his career. Also next year my older son will be graduation college and is planning on going into the Marines as an officer. I will have both my sons in the military and I pray every night the war will end very soon. I also think about all the service men and women and pray for their safe return home.

Today I have been making More Fall Table Runners, Coasters and aHanukkah Art Quilts. Here is a photo of the Coasters and Table Runners I have finished.

WIP - Wednesday 10-10-2007

Today I made more table runners and backup photos from my computer to CD.
Monday was hot and humid in Chicagoland and today it is cold. The temperatures did not get over 50 degrees. Only in Chicagoland can the weather go from the 86 to 48 degrees in 72 hours.

I Have Been Busy

I have been busy being a NJROTC Mom, sun printing and sewing table runners.

This is my son JB after doing 73 push ups and 75 sit ups. This the PT Team with their trophies and ribbons. This was the first time the unit hosted a PT Meet and they did a great job. There were 7 NJROTC units and about 100 cadets. The Navy Seals were the leaders and they sure did have fun cheering on the cadets. The cadets swam, ran, did pull ups, push ups and sit ups. The Seals showed a film and talked about being a Seal. A few of the cadets had a hard time with the heat and humidity.

More sun printing. I am happy how the orange one turned out. The yellow one is a bit light but that will change when I quilt and embellish it.

This is the template I use to make table runners. My hubby made this for me over 15 years ago and I use it a lot. I surge all the seams when I make table runners, place mats and coasters.
I go over all the seams that have been surged with a tight straight stitch just for extra strength. I want to make sure all the seams are strong and do not rip open after washing and drying many times.

Almost finished. All that is left is the quilting.

WIP - Wednesday 10-03-2007

I have been cutting fall fabrics for table runners. Now that the cutting is done it is time to sew the seams and borders.

Have A Great Day Sewing!
