Saturday Studio Time

Today I got both of these quilts fused together and fused on to the batting. I have a few more flower gardens guilts to make. Then it will be time to hand quilt, machine quilt, embellish, add the backing, more machine quilting and add the binding.

I Sure Am Slow

I knew this summer I would get very little work done in the studio and that is the truth. I am very glad I do not have any deadlines. Today I did manage to sit down at the sewing machine and free motion stitch the grass.

Before I ran errands with a friend I was able to do some hand quilting. After I got home I did a bit more.

New thread that I have wanted to try for the longest time. It is by Superior Threads - King Tut #40 - 100% Extra Long Staple Egyptian Cotton

Wall Quilts and NJROTC

Here are a few of the wall quilts I am working on. They are all UFOs that have been packed away for years. Once again these simply wall quilts that I used to sell at craft shows and in crafting stores.

New Wall Quilts and Gymnastics

Today I worked on my QOV and new wall quilts. Did some housework, laundry and gave Max a bath.

Last night was my son gymnastics meet and this is JB on the rings.

I have not made this wall quilt in years. When I was doing craft shows and selling my work in crafter's stores I could not stock enough simple wall quilts like this.

WIP - Wednesday 02-28-2007

Thank-you everyone who has send emails and left comments yesterday and today. It is great to have wonderful friends. I could not get through the day without you! I am reading your blogs but I have not left any comments. I love seeing all the creative projects you doing. I am having a hard time getting the words out of my mind to the keypad. It takes me hours just to write my own postings.

I am slowly getting back to the studio.

I showed this wall quilt early this month and today I finished the binding. Another UFO completed. I started this in a class with Melody Johnson in November of 2006.





My Mom, Sister, Brother, Me and our families stayed in a house on St George Island, Florida in August of 2003. I fell in love the island and ocean when I was there for a business trip in 2001. I took many photos of the water, sky, beach and family. I am going to use the hand dye fabrics I received from Joanna from SerenityisBliss Blog. When Joanna wrote about the the "stained" grey fabric it reminded me of the photos I took of the waves on the beach as they hit the sand. I signed up for the challenge and Joanna sent me some of her wonderful hand dyes. The challenge is to use Joanna fabrics to make her a postcard. I am also going to use the Tyvek I received from Julaine from Julaine in Fiberspace blog. The sailboat is a free hand sketch and I use my photos do a freehand sketch for the background. Joanna sent enough fabric to make her postcard and a wall quilt. I am going to use the same sketch for both. I hope this challenge gets my creative juices flowing and keeps my mind off my woes.

When I really need a mental break I am sewing string blocks for my two son quilts.

I am also working on my Quilt Studio March 12 X 12 X 12 Journal Quilt.

Dye-na-Flow Dyes and New Wall Quilt

Thank-you to every one who answered my question about yesterdays piece of silk I dyed. I asked what the piece looked like to you. The reason why I asked is because I love hearing what it is you see. I got many different responses.

These are cotton muslin scraps I used to absorb the extra dyes. I have heat set the dye but have not washed the fabric in the machine. I am sure some of the dye will wash out.

Washed and dried Valentine fabrics from my stash that is waiting to be ironed. I will be using this fabric for postcards and small wall quilts.

This will be 16 X 16 when finished. Last week I purchased more floss and beads and I will be using for embellishments on this wall quilt and others.
