Preserving Memories

I am transferring VCR and Digital tapes to my computer. I have years of old movies that need to preserved. I have decided the best thing to do is get the old tapes on to my computers hard drive and then make copies on backup drive, CD and DVDs. This may be over kill but memories need to be saved for the generations yet to be born.

I am still on the hunt for my old sketch book. I must of put it somewhere "safe".

I still am not in the mood to be creative. I am putting ideas together to begin my January's Journal Quilt for Quilter Studio webring. My theme is Family. Since my Mom has passed away I have been looking at old photos of my family and so the idea was born for my Journal Quilts. Each month I am going to do a journal for each branch of my husbands and my families. January will be a family tree, February will be my husbands grandparents, March will be my grandparents, April will be my husbands parents, May will be my parents.............December will be my husbands brother, his wife and their son. Each journal will start with photos and take off from there. I want to use different type of surface design, all types of fabrics, fibers and at least one new thing each month.

I am looking forward to see what others are doing and can't wait until we begin posting photos of our work. I wonder if we could take all of our journals on the road to different quilt shows?

I am reading your blogs but have not left many comments. Thank-you to everyone who has left comments on my blog.

Have A Great Evening!

Preserving the old tapes is one of the projects we need to do too!
I am so behind on this sort of thing that I still haven't scanned all of my mom's old photos. At least all of her albums are still in pretty good shape. Jen

Your idea for journal quilts is a great one. I am thinking of trying journal quilts this year if I don't get caught up with doing stuff from my new quilt book. I think it would be a good way to try a new technique without doing something large.

What a neat idea- to do a family branch every month. I'm sure you will have fun with it.

I just posted my first page before the embellishments. Did you ever see the book Fran (Toad Haven Annex) made last year honoring her Granny? The Family tree is a great topic for all kinds of explorations.
