Kaleider Software and My Stolen Identity

I have been playing with a trial version Kaleider Software and really like it. This is a photo of a piece of fabric I dyed a few weeks ago. Kaleider uses your photo to manipulate images to emulate various Kaleidoscopes.

My identity has been stolen. Has this happened to you? What did you do? I have reported this to the police and followed their instructions notifying credit agencies, banks and others. I wonder if I need to kill dubiquilts blog and website. Maybe I need to be reborn and start all over. New name, personal accounts and numbers. What should my new name be? Could my new identity make me taller, skinner and richer? How can I live with out using my credit/debit cards for quilting online purchases. What will my son do when he can not purchase things on ebay? Oh well life will be simpler without online purchases.

So much for venting.

Oh My Lord, Debbi, I've heard of others that have had that happen, but it's one of those things you just hope and pray NEVER happens to you (me)!!. I was just going to check on you and make you you didn't get washed away with the storms there in the Windy City, and you have THIS to deal with. I have no idea what the best way to handle this is but definitely cancel all cards and contact your bank...Keep me posted as to what/how you handle this. Oh, my goodness, girl, I'm so sorry.

Oh, Debbie, I do hope everything works out for you. I have heard that it's quite an ordeal to get everything straightened out when your identity is stolen. What a terrible thing to have happen.

I hope they catch the person and do something really awful to him/her.

sorry to hear you've got a clone -- what a complete and utter hassle. May you be comforted by the fact you know, and are dealing proactively about it now....

As if you haven't had enough! How do these germs do it! I get so angry. Hope everything gets sorted out for you, Debbi.

Debbie, I'm so pleased you are enjoying Kaleider and love your images.
What a totally rotten thing to be a victim of identity theft. Do you know where/how? Even my dinosaur of a DH is hyper-vigilant about shredding everything down to the smallest sales receipt but the online possibilities for these swines are frightening. I hope it gets sorted out asap.

First the rain now this...I'm so sorry! Hang in there -- and give the folks who are being ever so sympathetic the kindness they deserve (um, if you can't tell that's serious sarcasm there aimed at the folks from your bank). Hang in there -- hugs from out in the cornfields.

How did it happen, do you know Debbi? I have sent off a scathing email to the bank this week as a new credit card and PIN arrived on the same day this week and could easily have been stolen from my letterbox. I rang up and the response I got was "it happens all the time". ME: well what can you do about it? HER: I don't know tell my manager I suppose, but nothing gets done ME: isn't there a Quality Improvement form you can fill in on the computer to document this problem? HER: I don't know. Email sent!

Hey, Debs..
It happened to me. And they ran up a 3K credit card. I contacted the credit bureau and had it looked into. They had an address for that person that vaguely RESEMBLED my former husband's (hmmmmm)and took it off.
Just for fun, I told the ex about it and that there was going to be an investigation. He asks me how it's going ALL the time. (And truly, there was one, but they don't intend to prosecute due to time frame.)Hope this gets sorted out for you, and I feel your frustration.
Great fabric you did!
