Question About Blue Jean Quilts From Violette

Violette asked the following question: I've never heard of using jeans in a quilt. Is the whole quilt made out of jeans or just a few pieces?

Because you are noreply and I do not have an email address for you here is my answer.

You can make the whole quilt with only jeans. The photos below are quilts I made for my sons using their old jeans, my hand dyed fabrics and the backing is from their old flannel shirts and commercial quilters flannel.

The quilt that I am making and posted about yesterday is going to be all jeans with no backing. It will be used on my bed to cover and protect the "good quilt" that I sleep with daily. I need to protect the quilt from my three dogs who are spoiled rotten and sleep in my bed. The dogs are not very good at wiping their paws when they come in from outside. Once in awhile my quilt and sheets have muddy paw prints and dirt on them. I am tired washing them and this way I only have to wash the jeans quilt. Also the jeans quilt is very heavy and strong so it can take the extra wear and tear of the dogs.

Love the jeans quilt. A friend of mine made one using the pockets of jeans she had bought at the thrift store, along with some of her sons'.

denim quilts also make great picnic blankets as they don't blow away in the wind, and can take the wear of being on the ground...

Jeans quilts would really solve the animal-on-the-bed problem. Great idea.

Love your jeans quilt. I have one nearly finished (as is every project I've started), which I combined with flannel shirts.

Sorry my name is on no reply. I thought that I fixed this and don't know what I am doing wrong. In the future I will post my name and email address together. The email address is vseverin62@gmail.com. Back to the quilt - I like your idea of using one quilt to protect the "good" one. I have not been using some of my quilts just because my cats will claw them to pieces.
