My Wrap Up For The Greater Chicago Quilt Exposition

This is the second year for the Greater Chicago Quilt Exposition and the last show for the 2007 World Quilt Competition Tour. I love this show because I can get up close to all of the quilts and the show is only 3 miles from my house. The quilts are outstanding and the varity of techniques is wide. The number of vendors is small but I like that because I spend so much money at Internationl Quilt Festival when the show is in Rosemont.

Here is what I did the four days at the show and just a few of the quilts from blogger friends.

Thursday: I walked around looking at the quilts and taking photos. As I was looking at a quilt the person standing next to me was Carryl Bryer-Fallert

I had just started looking at quilts and asked her if she had any quilts in the show. She did not. We talked about her home, studio in Puducah and her quilt in Houston. I was so happy to met with Carryl because she is one of my quilting mentors.

Friday: I had the honor of taking Laughing Leaves class with Frieda Anderson Frieda is a great teacher and her class was a lot of fun.

Here are some of Frieda's quilts that were in the show.

Here is my WIP from the class

One of the students from class had two of her quilts in the show. Brigitte is from Germany. Brigitte has famiy in Illinois, she was taking classes to learn new "American" techniques. Brigitte gave us a flyer with her quilt on the front and she showed us a book of her quilts. Brigitte does outstanding work. Brigitte does not have a blog but you can she her quilts at her here . Please send Brigitte an email letting her know she has new online friends from around the world. Let her know I sent you. Brigitte will be going home next week so she will not get your emails until then.

Here she is with her two quilts.

Saturday: I met Kay from outofthebasment blog. We had a quick lunch and then walked around looking at the quilts together.
Kay does great work so please stop by her blog and see her quilts.

Sunday: I met Bobbie from QuiltersTreasure
Bobbie and her Husband had a booth at the show.

Bobbie and I belong to the same online yahoo group and I posted that I was going to the show and if anyone else was going to the show to give me a call. Please stop by Bobbie's website and see the wonderful Marbled Fabric she and her family make.

Here are photos from a few of the bloggers who I have met online.

Great to see Brigitte with her wonderful quilt! Also, I missed BJ Parady's piece at the show, so it was good to see that. Her work is beautiful. Thanks.
Enjoy those leaves--we've got them too :)

That looks like a great event to attend. Your leaf quilt is going to be beautiful. Frieda's quilts are just stunning in their use of color.
