Running Around and Family Time

I have family coming in town tonight from Louisiana so I had to run a whole bunch of errands and had lunch with a friend. I will be having family time for the next few days and will post all about.

I did find time today to look at my fabric dyes and supplies. I need to place an order and will do so next week if I get paid for the sewing I did last week.

I have not looked at or touched my hand dyed fabric at all this year. I have forgotten what I did last year. Below are a few of the photos I found. Wow I did forgot all about what I did last year.
After my family leaves I need to spend time looking and touching my hand dyed fabrics. Maybe this will give me the incentive to create and get back to my studio.

Monoprinting On Fabric

Yesterday I tried mono printing for the first time on fabric. I used Setacolor Transparent Paints and these two notched spreaders my hubby got at ACE Hardware. I really like the design from the spreader on the left. The last two pieces of fabric I laid leaves under the fabric and rolled color on top. All the fabric started out as ugly dyed fabrics in my stash from a few years ago.

Once again I have no plans for these fabrics so they will be added to my stash. I know winter will be here in Chicagoland soon and I will have a lot of time in doors to create.
If you see a piece of fabric you would like to add to your stash or use in a project please send me an email.
Have A Great Day!

Blue Jean Blocks and More Hand Dyed Fabric

I have run out of room in my studio (dinning room) to store fabric. I will be taking all of the commercial fabrics and put them in bins in the sun room. I have a box of fabric that I am going to send to Debra that I am donating for service quilts. I still have 4 bins to look at before I mail the box. I found a big bag with blue jeans and scraps from my sons quilts and I have a few boxes left that I got from Lois. I spent yesterday cutting and sewing these blocks. Now the bag is smaller and will fit in a bin also going to the sun room. I have two big piles of jeans on my work table that have been cut and are just waiting to be sewn. I also washed more muslin for string blocks. Soon the weather here in Chicagoland will be cold and I will be sewing. I find sewing jean and string blocks relax my mind and body.

More photos of the fabric I worked on last weekend. Some will get more embellished when I add them to quilts.

I hope you are having great weekend and found time to be creative.

Plans Have Changed I am Home Today

I did not go with my son to Great Lakes Naval Base because I did not want to leave the dogs locked up in the kitchen for over 10 hours. Crystal and Max get into trouble when the have free run of the house, Summer is a good girl and does not get into any trouble when we are not home. My hubby and oldest son went and they will help cook, supervise and go for an assault craft ride.

Today I am still working in my studio clean and sorting fabric. I have run out of space and need to downsize my stash in my studio to bins in the screen porch.

Here are some more photos of the fabric I worked on last weekend. I can not wait until I finish cleaning my studio to get some of these up on the design wall and start creating.

I still have more photos and will save them for another day(s).

Hope you have a great weekend!

This is my WIP for today. It is made from scraps of fabric that are left overs from the quilts I have made of the past year. I have no idea where I am going with this.

Hand dyed cottons fabrics

These are more of my hand dyed fabric from early this summer that I stamped, painted and colored with fabric markers this weekend.

Back To Work

I am feeling better and did do some work this past weekend. I over dyed, painted and stamped some of the ugly hand dyed fabric I did early in the summer. I have a pile of fabric sitting on the table waiting to be ironed. As soon as I get the fabric ironed I will take photos and post them but here is a sample of what I did.

More Playing With Fabric

These are three cuts from fabric I dyed a few weeks ago. Today I used paintstiks and rubbing plates to add textures. I have no plans for these at this time.

I over dyed this piece with water downed Setacolor Green Opaque and sun printed with leaves. I like how some of the original colors are show thru the over dyed green color. I will be adding this piece of fabric to my stash for use at a later date.
