A Peaceful End To A Busy Weekend

Weekend recap Saturday: We went to Anderson, Indiana for the JROTC Ebbert Mega Drill Meet. Jacob and his NJROTC team won first place for PT and Academic. Jacob is the caption of the PT. They also place second or third in seven other events and were second overall.

Weekend recap Today: First fire outside of the year. I am a fire bug, I can sit and watch the fire burn for hours.

Earthquake In Southern Illinois

It was another night when I could not sleep and I was up at 2AM. I was on the computer at 4:30AM and my dogs went crazy and wanted to go outside when the eartquake hit about 250 miles from my house. I did not feel the earthquake but my son JB did. To read more about the earthquake click here.

I did not walk at the park today but walked with my son BB as we shopped most of the day. We went to Borders and BB got 2 books about the Iraq war. Then we walked around Woodfield Mall and window shopped. We stopped at Dicks Sporting Goods and BB got a pair of running shorts and then we stopped at the grocery store. I forgot all about going to staples for ink for my printers. That will have to wait until Sunday. I wanted to print the back of my passover postcards and get them in the mail today. It was great fun spending time with my son and when he off fighting the war I will remember our time together.

On Saturday I am going to Ebert, Indiana for a NJROTC Drill Meet. We are leaving at oh dark 30 in the morning (4:30AM). I will be riding the bus with the team so I should be able to sleep both going and coming home. I went to the meet last year and it was a lot of fun, but a long day.

Have A Great Weekend!

Backup to Friday and Saturday

Friday was setup for NJRTOC Chicagoland Drill Meet. It was the first time since my heart attacks and angioplasty that I had the chance to put my heart to the test by working. I was running around, lifting boxes, standing, bending down and never had chest pains. Now I know the stent is doing the job. When I got home at ten that night all I wanted to do was fall into bed and sleep which I did. Saturday JB had to be at the drill meet by 5:30am so his dad took him. My plan was to follow my schedule and not get up until 7am, take my meds, test my blood sugar, eat, shower and get to the drill meet at 9am. Since I was up at 4:30am with JB I decided to stay up and got to the meet at 6:30. I worked the T-shirt, Fundraiser Tickets and Knock Out Tickets Table. I was able to sit most of the day so I was not on my feet for 12 twelve hours like the people who worked the food concessions. This was a very good decision because I would not of lasted more than a few hours at the concession table. By mid afternoon even with sitting on my butt I was exhausted and falling asleep. I still had a long afternoon and evening ahead of me because after the drill met I had plans with a friend. By 6pm the awards were beginning, I knew it would take an hour, we still had clean up so I packed the t-shirts and cleaned my area. I could not keep my eyes open anymore so I left the drill meet. I headed home for a fast shower and clean clothes. When I met up with my friend we had a great dinner, watched TV, talked and then it was off to bed. It was a great night filled with dreams until the demons decide to invade my thoughts. I am so lucky to have a great friend to hold me when I needed it the most. You are the best and I am very lucky to have you in my life.

Photos from the drill meet.

Sunday was a day just to share with a friend, have fun, relax and learn new things. I could not of asked for a better day or friend to share it with. Thank-you so much!

Drill Meet and Bad Weather

Today's Drill Meet was very long and alot of fun. My Son's unit did well.

As we started to drive home the weather changed for the worst. It started to hail and now it is snowing and freezing rain is falling. We made it home just in time. Many of teams are from out of state and or had a long drive home. I hope they all made it home safely.

My family is asleep and I am going back to bed myself.

Have a Great Evening!

A Long Day

I am very tired, it was a long day! I am going to eat dinner and head to bed. I can't keep my eyes open. As I said in yesterdays post today was a NJROTC Drill Meet for my son and his unit. I had to get up at 4 am and then wake my son at 4:20am so he could get in the shower, dressed and be at school by 5:30am. The drill meet began at 8:00 am and ended about 4:30 pm. That is a very long day for all unless you are under 18. Some of the cadets are getting together at another cadets house. We said we would pick him and friend up at midnight. The "we" is really my husband because I am going to bed.

I will get to emails and blogs on Sunday. I need to download over 100 photos and transfer the DVD to my computer and make copies. I hope to get back to Joann's and do some hand stitching on the little circle quilt I showed the other day.

Have a Great Evening!
