Our back, front and side yards have been flooded for days. On Sunday night we had water in our laundry room, the low spot in our house. I have always wanted lake front property but not to live on an island. We are going to have more rain this whole week. I hope where you live, you are safe from the rain and fires.
I have been fusing and cutting fabric but not much more is going on in the studio.
High school started today for my #2 son. My #1 son will start on Monday. This year #1 son will be living at home and taking the train to downtown Chicago everyday for classes at UIC. I am not happy that he will not be living on campus or in an apartment. I think the commute each day will take from his study time, but he says he wants to live at home. He has it good at home and he knows it.

having at various times had long commutes and basically non-existent ones I can assure you there are advantages to a long commute -- you actually get some mental transition time; you can do a remarkable amount of reading without interruption; and it encourages a discipline of packing stuff up and heading home not just "whiling" the time away....
It is all a part of the growing process, isn't it. He'll be ready one day. If not you're making home much too comfortable for him!!
Wish you could send some of that rain our way. We're about to become toast here.
I'll send you some hot sunshiney days, and you can send me some of your hot WET days, how about that, girlfriend?? :D
The rain does get a little wearying after a time.
When my kids left home, I felt I had done something right, & they felt strong enough to fly.
They have all been back at various stages, & not always for good reasons. How we love our kids!
Here's hoping the sun will come out tomorrow and a beautiful rainbow shines over you, your home, all the kids, commuting or not! One of mine did the close by version, and it worked perfectly. Each child is so different, just like each of us is! Thinking sunny thoughts for you! hugs!!!
Debbi -- hope you aren't under water and the laundry room was the worst of your flooding! Hang in there, we're supposed to have sun for a couple of days, hopefully long enough to dry out!
We haven't had any rain here in about a year so I wish you could send some of it out this way!
I talked with a dear friend in the Sycamore area and they are flooded out. It's so sad to see the pictures on tv of all the homes and towns standing in water. I'm sending dry thoughts your way!!
