Life Is Getting Better One Day At A Time

On the last day of the year if only I had know what was in store for the new year I would of spent more time on the beach.

Today I went for a walk around the block and who knew it would be so much fun. I have only be outside of the house twice this past week. Today I just had to get out. The sun is shining here in Chicagoland, the sky is bright blue and the temperature is 35 degrees and a great day for a walk. I only walked under a half mile but I had no chest pains. Before getting sick I was walking 6 miles a day. I did not have chest pains until about three weeks ago. It was great to walk without chest pains and now I want to get back to walking everyday but it will have to wait a few more weeks.

As many of you know I had five heart attacks over the past three weeks and angioplasty last week. I am recovering and getting in the routine of taking my medications (nine different pills a day) and eating three healthy meals a day. I do not like how I am light headed and can not keep a thought. I have become an airhead. I love the weight loss but HATE my smaller breasts. I am wearing jeans that are three sizes smaller, my rings do not stay on and my bras are huge. I do not recommend the "5 heart attack diet".

Four years ago I was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome - Refractory Anemia with excess blasts). While I was in the hospital my white cell count dropped very low and now it is slowly going back up but still way below normal. On Monday I will be going back to the hospital for a bone marrow biopsy. This will be the forth time I have had a marrow biopsy so I know what I am in for. The bad part is another week taking it easy. I so want to be up and about. The start of this new year is not what I had planned, but I am alive so I will be happy.

A very special THANK-YOU to everyone who has left well wishes on my blog. I am a very lucky person to have such great friends like you!!!!!!

Hope you all have a great day!!!!

My new year is also not starting the way I wish, but I know that things will be better for both of us. Reading everyones creative blogs has helped me with positive thought, and it sounds like you are also maintaining positive thoughts.

life is seldom what any of us plan, its really about the attitude we choose to have towards the events thrown at as that determines what life will be....

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy some of the neighborhood today. Bone Marrow readings are absolutely no fun.. but they are incredibly useful in diagnosis, and thankfully we live in a part of the world where they're not only availabe but people can devise a treatment plan based on the info they provide...

Getting out and walking is a good sign that you're feeling better. I hope the next few weeks go by fast and that you are soon doing 6 miles a day again. Having such a positive attitude makes a huge difference. Hugs and good thoughts.

So glad to read you're out and about a bit. Isnt' it amazing how good it feels to do something like take a walk after being cooped up, poked, prodded and scared for so long. Keep healing!

And we are blessed to have you as a friend..............

Perhaps it hasn't been a good year so far but it is far from over. The best is yet to be.

I'm so sorry your year has started out so rough. I'll be praying that the biopsy goes well and that you're growing stronger every day. Take advantage of the time to rest and recoup. Blessings. --Susan C.

So glad you were able to get out and enjoy the sun (and the brief glimpse of warmth) we got. Hang in there -- you will get through this!
