Why I Blog

I was reading on another blog yesterday why the owner blogs. I spent some time reflecting why I blog. When I first started reading other blogs I did so because I love seeing what other crafty people are doing with their art. I have for as long as I can remember always crafted. Sewing has always been my favorite. I gave my art away as gifts and for 12 years I sold my quilting in craft show and craft stores. I loved doing craft shows, stocking the craft stores while I was able to be a stay at home mom. When my sons got older I returned to the corporate world and my crafting went by the way side.I have always worked in the computer field mostly on main frame computers. When the PC was born it took me years to get one. Once I got a PC the world opened up for me. I had a hotmail email account for 6 years and surfed the web. It has only been two years since I found out about yahoo, yahoo groups and online photos. In January of this year I started my blog. I started blogging because I simply wanted to keep a journal of my crafting, quilting and my life. When I stopped working outside of the house I thought I would loose touch with the world and I was very wrong. My website, photos and blog have kept me very much in touch with the world. The biggest bonus to all of this is people I have met. I never knew I would have an outstanding group of friends. Times during this past year have been the lowest points of my life and I could not have survived with out your kind words, prayers and inspiration to keep living, crafting and quilting. If I get the chance to met you I will give you a big hug, kiss and say thank-you. Until then all I can is say THANK-YOU you are the BEST!

Have A Great Day!

I started blogging mainly as a diary of my quilting and to keep my family updated as I made each of their quilts. Now I have lots of online frineds which was totally unexpected. It is great to find a group of like-minded people especially if you live in the middle of nowhere as I do.

I agree, all the new online friends are a definite plus!

I started blogging because I wanted to post a comment on someone else's blog and thought I had to have a blog to comment. :)

I also started as Forestjane. I wanted to leave a comment of a blog therefore started mine. I have enjoyed reading about everyone's quilting and life adventures and sharing my quilting. I enjoy the comments on projects and the encouragement I receive from the cyberworld. I most certainly enjoy your creativity and ideas I reap from your blog. Thank you.

I think you have expressed very well why most - if not all - of us blog. If you'd told me 5 years ago that I'd now be sharing my love of quilting with people all over the world - friends all over the world - I wouldn't have believed it. We all enrich each other's lives in such marvelous ways. I've had people tell me they don't "understand" blogging - I tell them they are missing out on so much. Have a wonderful holiday and may we all continue to grow closer together throughout the coming year.
