Gymnastics JV Season Is Over With A Bang

The JV team finished the season as Second Place Conference Champions. There are a total of 11 teams in our conference so they did great. The teams are lining up before the meets starts.

JB finished in 6th place out of 50 places on rings. You can see the air cast on JB's right ankle. He hurt his ankle on Monday doing a dismount on the rings. There was no way I was going to keep him from competing at the conference meet. We have a family history with gymnastics and now it is JB's turn to shine. My other son BB was the 2004 Varsity Conference Champion and the 2004 USA High School National Champion on rings. BB still hold the national record with a score of 9.9 and the schools record of 9.7

Jacob is the 2008 JV Conference High Bar Champion out of 46 places. If some one would of told me I would have a son who is a high bar champ I would of said they are nuts. For many years I have watched our team on the high bar with my eyes closed most of the time because they were not very good and got hurt a lot. This year the high bar team is outstanding and they did a great job.

More Gymnastics

Another day without sewing but a lot more gymnastics. Today was another gymnastics meet but this time it was for my son BB and at the college level. The two teams were are both University of Illinois (U of I) teams and the teams are big rivals. My sons teams is UIC (U of I at Chicago) and the other is U of I, Champagne. Champagne is a major university in Illinois and has one of the best teams in gymnastics. U of I won the meet but UIC did a great job. Tomorrow is the senior team brunch so we will be going back to campus in the morning. I am hoping we get back home in the early afternoon so I can spend sometime doing my thing.

Sweet Dreams and Good Night All!

On the Sixth Night was Gymnastics and Ice

Happy sixth night of Hanukkah!
UIC Men and Women Mixed Pairs Gymnastics Meet.
Ice is everywhere in Chicagoland. This is from my flower garden. I did not cut the grasses down for the winter.
Just seconds before taking this photo another Icicle fell from the gutter.

Gymnastics

Today I worked at the Illinois State Boys Team Gymnastics Finals. I will be there all day on Saturday. This is the only time of the year when I work outside of the home.

Both of my sons are gymnasts and I love gymnastics. Today I was the scorer (head judge helper) on rings. It is so cool being so close to the action.

My older son was the 2004 US High School National Champion on Rings with a score of 9.9. As of today he still holds the record. My younger son is very good on High Bar and Rings.

Have a Great Saturday!

Bake Sale, Gymnastics, Walking

Yesterday was a very busy day. The past two weeks I have been getting out of the house and going for a walk. When I stay in the house my pedometer at the end of the day displays less than 500 steps. When I go out and take a walk I have been able to get up to 7000 steps. Yesterday at the end of the day it displayed 10495 steps. I walked around the park by the house and I did just under 9000 steps.

Last night was the bake sale for my sons gymnastics team and the steps sure did added up. The bake sale did not go as good as the past 5. We had five teams, but not many parents showed up. We had lots of baked goods and plenty to drink. We made only $180.00 dollars. This is way below the other bake sales. The parents did a great job sending baked goods and drinks and we had donations from friends of the families.

At the gymnastics meet I was honor by our Coach and team by giving the top five All-Around Gymnast their medals.

I just got back from walk around the park with my neighbor Trish and we did just about a mile. My pedometer did not register any steps. So much for the cheap model.

Now it is time to get back to the studio before I have to pickup my sons at school and train.

I am having so much fun looking and touching my siggy blocks. I started search for each block maker then I found Bea from Capricorn Quilts created a list with links. Thank-you Bea! You made it so easy for me.

Road Trip,Hand Stitching and Gymnastics

Today we went to our older sons gymnastics meet at U of I. I had 3 hours in the car to read, listen to music and hand stitch each way. This is the hand stitching I did. Sweet Pea asked what was I going to do with the wall quilts. I will give some away as gifts and the other will be for sale on finished work blog and website.

This is the back
Just about one year ago BB had two surgeries on his left knee and this is the first meet he has been able to compete in. It is just practice for him because his score will not count for the team. A few weeks ago he hurt his shoulder and is in alot of pain. Maybe another surgery after the season. No matter what we are very proud of him for trying.
